<p>The Kenya High Commission hosted the 61st Anniversary of Kenya’s Independence on 4th December, 2024 at the Movenpick Hotel. The Chief Guest was Hon. Jenelly Matundu, Deputy Minister, Ministry of International Relations and Cooperation of the Republic of Namibia. The celebrations were attended by senior Government officials, members of the Diplomatic Corps and the Kenyan Diaspora.</p>



<p>In their speeches, Amb. Michael Sialia, CBS, High Commissioner and Hon. Jenelly Matundu, Deputy Minister for International Relations and Cooperation, lauded the warm and cordial relations between the two countries. The highlight of these relations was the holding of the Mid-Term Review of the Joint Permanent Commission of Cooperation on 9th -10th September, 2024.</p>

<p>6<sup>th</sup> December, 2023, Windhoek: Amb. Michael Sialai, High Commissioner of Kenya in Namibia held a 60 years Anniversary of the Country’s independence yesterday at the Mercure Hotel.  The event was attended by high-ranking officials from the Namibian government not limited to Hon. Jennely Matundu – Deputy Minister of International Relations and Cooperation (MIRCO) who was the Chief Guest, Hon. Yvonne Dausab, Minister of Justice and Khomas Region Governor, Hon. Laura McLeod-Katjirua.  Diplomatic Community in Namibia, private sector and section of Kenyans were in attendance.</p>



<p>The two speeches from the High Commissioner and the Chief Guest both lauded the special relations that Kenya and Namibia share dating back to 1966 when Mzee Jomo Kenyatta donated a Land rover to SWAPO then as a liberation movement to help in transporting personnel from Francis Town in Botswana to Kazungula in Zambia, a bond that was strengthened further during the UNTAG era and post independence where collaborations in fields such as health, education , agriculture among others continue to thrive.</p>
